About Us
Client: Bones & Bon Bons Gourmet Bakery for Dogs
Meet the Top Dogs at Bones and Bon Bons
Mercedes and Buddy are our resident taste-testers here at Bones and Bon Bons. Their owners, Dan Barton and Bryan Wright, are the brains behind the operation. Dan is originally from Syracuse, New York, and he moved to Orlando in 1990. Bryan relocated to Orlando in 1993 from Chattanooga, Tennessee.
How It All Began
As devoted parents to two pampered pups, we have always wanted a fun way to include our dogs in every holiday and birthday celebration. Around each holiday, we would search Central Florida for healthy, handmade dog treats with different seasonal decorations. As this quest became increasingly more difficult, we decided to take matters (and the treats) into our own hands. With a love for baking and great attention to detail and design, we launched our own line of hand-decorated treats in 2007. We have since developed our vision to focus on our subscription-based monthly gourmet treat clubs.
What Sets Us Apart from the Rest?
At Bones and Bon Bons, we focus on personalized customer service and quality handmade treats. Our gourmet treat clubs are affordable, and the automatic shipments eliminate all the guesswork and decision-making on your part. When you sign up for one of our gourmet treat clubs, you're guaranteed that your dog will have a freshly baked shipment of tasty new treats each and every month.
Customers can search the web and find hundreds of dog bakeries, but we excel at providing the best treats for your money. Large companies with commercialized bakeries can produce massive quantities of treats every day, but they can't give you that unique, homemade look that we take great pride in. We use only the freshest ingredients -- that's why our philosophy is "If we can't pronounce it, we don't use it." That means our treats don't contain preservatives or artificial flavors or colors.
We add new products every month to provide our customers with a great selection to choose from. Each month's treats have new designs based on an upcoming holiday or seasonal theme. We believe in giving our customers a reason to celebrate their favorite pets year round, not just at Christmas or birthdays.
Our business relies on our customers' satisfaction and enjoyment of our baked goods. We are always working on new ways to improve our website, treats, and customer service. We want to provide our patrons with great products as well as valuable information relating to your dog. Be sure to read our regularly updated articles and blog entries to learn about dog training, nutrition, health and safety.
We value your opinions, so please don't hesitate to contact us with your comments or suggestions. Thanks for taking the time to get to know us.

Economy can't keep a good idea down
by Erika Pitera, Special Correspondent
Published Mar. 8, 2008 in the East Orange Forum
For women looking to launch their own businesses, there are plenty of resources available for support. Just ask an expert.
Susan Wilson Solovic, author of "The Girl's Guide to Building a Million-Dollar Business" and "Reinvent Your Career: Attain the Success You Desire and Deserve," has plenty of practical experience and advice for fellow small business owners.
Solovic is also chairman and CEO of SBTV.com, an online television network solely dedicated to small businesses.
According to Solovic, a lot of women start their own businesses to supplement their household income, and in this "tight economy," the trend is growing.
For women who are interested in starting a home-based business but are concerned about the state of the economy, Solovic had some useful advice.
"There are a lot of things you can do that don't require you to start from scratch," Solovic said. "You can be a virtual assistant or explore opportunities to do direct selling. Home parties are a great way to have your own business and still have social interaction."
Solovic said technology has a lot of benefits, but it's also important to "do your homework" before getting involved with any online businesses.
"There are a lot of scams out there, and the scam artists are getting better and better at what they do," she said.
She advised checking the legitimacy of any business opportunity that requires upfront investment with the Better Business Bureau and the state attorney general's office.
Organizations such as the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and the Women's Leadership Exchange (WLE) are also worthwhile resources for women looking to start out as entrepreneurs.
"I joined NAWBO when I started my first business, and the women there were like my own personal cheerleaders and an informal board of advisors," Solovic said.
"I also recommend attending any of the Women's Leadership Exchange conferences. It's a great networking opportunity, and the seminars are the place to learn more and ask questions."
Solovic strongly believes in business mentorship programs, in which experienced business owners can help newer entrepreneurs strategize and implement business plans.
"There are some nuances that continue to impact women business owners, from day one," Solovic said. "They are both systemic and psychological. Women still don't have the same access to credit, markets or technical resources to build businesses that men do.
"Having a mentor can keep you from making the same mistakes they did when they were starting out."
Solovic said one thing she's noticed when working with small businesses, especially those owned by women, is that "most don't fail because they think too big, but rather because they don't think big enough."
"Passion comes into play when starting a business. After all, you have to love what you do, but you should also have the knowledge and ability to sell and produce your products or services and have the business knowledge to grow a business," she said.
"Some women aren't comfortable saying they want to make a lot of money, but money should be in the top three reasons for starting a business."
In the spirit of mentorship and camaraderie, Solovic said she hopes more women will realize the importance of doing business with fellow women business owners.
"Women make 85 percent of all buying decisions," she said. "I strongly believe that when one of us succeeds, it helps us all."
